The Matterhorn literally is the biggest highlight of Switzerland and forms the center of this section. The 5.982 mm high mountain is made from oodles of steel and about a ton of plaster. It comprises an accessible mining tunnel, in which - amongst others - the underground station Porta Alpina is located.
The summit of Wunderland's Matterhorn can be reached by cog railway, unlike the original. If you take a closer look, you might be able to see the lights of a hiking group up on the mountain ridge when darkness falls...
