This coming weekend, Miniatur Wunderland will be in Berlin to take part in the ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law. This event, which is organised annually by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, will take place on 23 May and is being held in cooperation with the ‘Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance’.
The ceremony honours the entry into force of the Basic Law on 23 May 1949 and is dedicated to the promotion of democratic values and tolerance. During the event, projects and initiatives that are particularly committed to democracy and tolerance will be honoured.
Miniatur Wunderland will be represented as part of the Hamburg delegation and will present the special exhibition ‘The Divided City’, which shows a small section of the fascinating miniature world. This exhibition consists of nine dioramas depicting life in the divided city of Berlin during the Cold War. The detailed models offer a deep insight into the history of the Berlin Wall and the effects of the division on people's lives. The aim of this exhibition is not only to emphasise the historical significance of the Berlin Wall and the division of Germany, but also to contribute to the culture of remembrance. The dioramas impressively show how the city was divided by the Wall and what life was like on both sides.
We are delighted to take part in this important day and to visualise the values that the Basic Law stands for in our miniature world. Visit us in Berlin and discover the fascinating details and stories that Miniatur Wunderland has to offer.
